Trailer VS Opening Sequence

I chose to compare the Sweeney Todd trailer and the opening sequence. The trailer consists of fast paced cuts that make the audience on edge. They also show all the high tension moments of the film to make us rush to the cinema to see the film. The trailer goes from low tension to mid tension to high tension then a brief moment of low tension then very high tension. This is the typical layout of a trailer. The musical score of the trailer is extremely dramatic, with high orchestral music playing.

Whereas, the opening sequence of the film is very simple, it sums up what the film is about, it doesn't give anything of the storyline away, it keeps it hidden. It shows actors names, directors, editors, costuming etc. It has musical score is much more toned down in comparison to the trailer, this is because it isn't supposed to excite you, only to sum up the story.
